In October 2011 Saint George had its Section 5 Ofsted Inspection. The report has now been finalised and is ready for parents and the community to view. The report represents a huge move forward for the college from just over two years ago, when we last had an inspection.
Saint George is now graded good overall, with
• The extent to which pupils feel safe
• The extent to which pupils contribute to the school and wider community
• The extent of pupils spiritual, moral, social and cultural development
• The effectiveness of care, guidance and support
• The effectiveness of the school’s engagement with parents/carers
The first paragraph of the report really sums up where we now are as a college and the type of Catholic ethos we are building.
“St George Catholic Voluntary Aided College is a good school which is improving strongly in all areas of its work. Its Catholic ethos fosters a highly unified community of eager learners who value and celebrate each other’s differences. Consequently, students from diverse backgrounds get on extremely well and feel exceptionally safe.
The care, guidance and support students receive are outstanding. As a result, they develop into well-rounded and courteous young men who make an excellent contribution to their college and local community.
An extensive range of opportunities to hone their leadership skills, reflect deeply on ethical and societal issues and extend their sporting and artistic talents means that the students’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development is exemplary.”
Thank you to everyone who has played their part in this successful journey. It is a report to feel proud of and one which lays clear foundation to move to being an outstanding school overall in the near future.
